People in the church have been buying and making items to put into shoe boxes for the ‘Operation Christmas Child’ appeal 2019. Many people from the church and connected with the church have covered shoe boxes with Christmas paper and put in items that will thrill children in many countries across the world. For more details of Operation Christmas Child please see out post ‘Shoe Boxes’ under Mission.
One of our families acted as a collection centre this year. This entailed receiving shoe boxes from local individuals and organisations and taking them, on bulk, to the regional Operation Christmas Child warehouse where each box would be checked, sealed and put into cartons to be shipped abroad.
The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. We always give shoeboxes to children based on need, regardless of their background or religious beliefs. It’s an unconditional gift of love.
